News - Animal Sportsman Racers - For the 2009 season, we will be aligning the engine rules with the Animal Briggs 206 engine specs. The engine will be raced on gas and will require the use of the 206 rev limiter. The factory seal will not be required. All other rules will follow the IKF (box stock) gas animal rules. The 2010 season will require the factory sealed engine.
Other changes -
1. The kart chassis must be a 2006 model or older
2. The minimum weight has been raised to 370lbs.
Other rules -
1. Only Noram two shoe clutches allowed
2. Burris 33 only tire rule - must punch 50 (at tech or the grid)
3. No tire prepping at the track.
4. Ages 14 and up.
5. Entry fee is $20, with one trophy presented to the feature winner.
6. $600 engine claim rule (must be competing in the Animal Sportsman class to claim a competitors engine)
The Animal sportsman class has been designed to be an affordable entry level class, where the emphasis is to come to the track, learn a little, and especially - have fun.
I'd like to point out that a used gas animal engine has a core value at the end of a season. Engine builders are typically in search of these engines because the block and head have been 'seasoned' from racing use, and are in perfect shape for being built into an alcohol engine......Steve
